A photographer and multidisciplinary artist based in Ramsgate, Vinca Petersen began regularly recording her life as part of the free party and traveller community, who moved around Europe staging raves, during the 1990s. Some of her vast archive of photographs, diary entries and ephemera have since been published and appear in her multimedia, installation works. Subsequent bodies of work, including Africa Laughter Aid (2004) and photographs taken during trips with Future Youth Project, a social sculpture that Petersen started in 2010 to provide aid and highlight underrepresented communities, have continued to stem from her deep personal engagement and social activism.
